Instrument Description

This lavish piano was built by Boardman & Gray of New York in about 1871. Boardman & Gray built very high quality, expensive pianos from about 1837-1931. This piano is made in the highly carved Rococo Victorian style, and is finished in a beautiful Brazilian Rosewood finish. Note the elaborately fretted front panels – these panels have a thin satin cloth behind them which allows the sound to escape from the piano to increase its tone and power. These ornately carved pianos were the highest grade, most expensive instruments of their day, and they are quite rare today. This piano has been restored to perfection inside and out. Computerized player mechanisms can be installed if desired. A matching Victorian stool is included.
