Instrument Description

This is one of the most stunning custom made Steinway pianos we've ever seen. According to our Steinway's records, this piano was custom ordered by Charles Blasius of Philadelphia and was completed on May 3, 1872. It is a "Style 2" concert grand finished in hand carved black walnut wood with ebony and copper inlay. The legs of this piano are massively carved with intricately carved faces and griffins, and the inlay and etching which covers the entire instrument is just breathtaking. Steinway shows that this piano was bought back by the Steinway factory in 1898 and again in 1921, both times being resold to private individuals.

This piano is one of the rarest pianos we've ever had in our inventory, and it is the only one like it in the world. The instrument is being restored to absolute like-new condition inside and out.
